Starmobile is a  Filipino brand of affordable but quality smartphones and tablets and directly competing against other smartphone brands like MyPhone and Cherry Mobile. Designs are done in the Philippines but the smartphones and tablets are made in China. Starmobile  have made its mark when it started selling mobile phones in 2011. Everything changed when Starmobile released its first Android smartphone – Starmobile Astra back in 2012. The phone was a big hit because of its unique feature of having an analogue TV with it.

Now, everyone is excited with the arrival of Starmobile’s latest flagship – Starmobile Knight. It has a 1.2 GHz Quad core processor, 4.7-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels), Corning Gorilla Glass, 1GB RAM, and running Android 4.2.1 Jellybean. But what’s makes the phone exciting is the 18 megapixel rear camera and 8 megapixel front camera for selfie shots. Expensive? Its only P11,200!!!

  1. What makes starmobile stand out? Perhaps it’s the PRICE. Can’t they have a good after sales service and price lower or equal to that of cherry mobile?

    • Starmobile has the best after sales service than Cherry Mobile. The price for me is still affordable because its still below 10K mark which is a soft spot for Filipino buyers. Hate to say but Cherry Mobile’s after sales service sucks.

      • yeah cherry after sales is one of the worst case scenario that we have encountered never again we will touch any stuffs from cherry mobile… never….

    • I accidentally dropped my Starmobile Diamond against the ceramic floor by 3 feet, pero wala pa ding sira. So far so good, 1 month na sya smla nung binili ko and still working well. Perhaps ung nabili mo is ung .000something percent na factory defect(well, it happens)

  7. ang starmobile na jelly bean ay pde pa ma upgrade pag may lumabas na bgo na o.s??? kinuconsider ko kc ung ganung bagay..kung makakapag upgrade pa ba or forever nastuck na ung phone na jelly bean o.s nid ur reply asap

      • OTA nga (over the air) once the update is out basta connected ka sa WiFi or 3G makakapagupdate ka. all phones are ok so wag ka na malito sa kukunin mo. ang deciding point mo nlang ay screen size and battery. ang Knight 4.7 inches, ang Diamond V3 5.3 inches ang Diamond V7 5.7 inches. all of them are Jellybean na and have great cameras.

  10. I owned a samsung galaxy s3 and galaxy note. Then a friend of mine sold his starmobile knight to me coz he needs money. Well at first glance i thought its just another local low end phone. But as i hold it, men i just become in love with it. The design, the smooth fluidity, music audio, and its a head turner. I really recommend this phone coz it will give everything u need in a smartphone. Just slot in a good memory card and youre ready. Battery life is also good. Never heats up. Two thumbs up for this Knight!!!

    Where will I send my Starmobile Astra (after sale service) for servicing?
    I’m from Zamboanga City, I purchased the said unit online from Lazada.
    Expression Mobile Center, the authorized service center of Starmobile here in Zambo. City does not want to accept it for the simple reason that it was not purchased from them.

  14. Mark Marcelo kung maka advertise ka ng starmobile as if dealer ka or ikaw may-ari ng starmobile company.. please be honest sa mga itinuturo mo sa mga tao, nakaka-mislead kasi mga bias comments mo e.

      • “Lag-free operation” ba kamo sabi mo? Nasa SM Megamall ako last week, bibili dapat ng phone, pero I tried the demo phone, dun pa lang nag lag na.. messaging ang tagal lumabas, kala ko nag-hang na.. tapos I tried to check Antutu Benchmark.. nagsasara mag isa after lumabas yung score, hindi ko tuloy ma press yung ‘details’ because it kept closing.. Tapos yung CAMERA = 18MP daw pero MAS MALINAW PA ANG 8MP NG APPLE IPHONE.. LAKI NG DIFFERENCE RIGHT? I tested it kasi magkalapit lang ang kiosk ng Starmobile at Apple Store… tsk tsk.. On a consumer’s end.. we felt cheated by Starmobile and the people who conduct these phone reviews. TRANSPARENCY LANG PO SANA SA MGA REVIEWS NINYO.

      • Really? May demo unit sa megamall? Talaga lang ha. Walang demo unit sa megamall. Pictures lang ang nakadisplay sa Starmobile Kiosk. Last week ba kamo? Palagi ako andun. Lag free operation talaga sila lalo na quad core phones nila. Apat na naging Starmobile phone ko – Jump, Icon, Diamond V3 and V7. Wala ako naging problema sa kanila. Ako nagsasabi lang ng totoo. Wala ako connection sa starmobile. Tulad mo customer lang din ako. Kung may galit ka sa kanila wag mo sa akin ibuntong. Ako nagsusulat at nagbabahagi lang ng experience ko sa gadgets. Kung hindi ka agree e di wag ka magbasa. MATUTO KA NG RESPETO. Hindi rin ako titigil sa pagsagot kasi as long as wala ako ginagawang mali ipaglalaban ko ang aking punto. Kaya sagot ka lang. Handa ako pumatol.

Starmobile makes excellent products, echoing the sentiments of the author they have a solid feel that makes them seem like much more high-priced international brands’, and the specs are very good for the price or good “bang for the buck”. However I would be remiss if I didn’t caution potential buyers that some models with ‘scratch-resistant’ glass (Dragontrail or Gorilla) may be prone to cracking, even if the device was never dropped, hit or bumped.
    This glass can crack suddenly without warning, which if the screen is OGS (One Glass Solution) may render the device inoperable since the touch control interface is part of the glass. My son’s Engage 7 HD tablet and neighbor’s (which was a different model, I forget the designation, but an 8-incher similarly equipped with this type of glass) spontaneously cracked for no apparent reason, within days of each other and only about 2 months after purchase. The devices were handled with all due care. In both cases they were rendered useless, and since screens are not covered under warranty (convenient loophole?), the cost of replacement is 2/3 the price of a new device, making it not worthwhile.
    A Google search turns up numerous similar anecdotal reports. However in all fairness, perhaps Starmobile cannot be blamed, except insofar as their choice of glass, or warranty exclusion thereof, rather it is the glass manufacturers themselves, since there are reports of many other brands including internationals like Samsung, Sony, LG, even Apple, with similar issues. Starmobile should perhaps consider alternative technologies like hard-coated Lexan plastic, which is also unbreakable, standard glass (I find the scratch-resistance to be more than adequate, if one takes care of their device, which unfortunately many Filipinos do not), or sapphire.

  25. I bought a diamond s2 3wks ago. Nagdadalawang icp ako bmli kc parang cherry or myphone…somebody adviced me na bmli ng quadcore. . Then tama lang tong diamond s2. .quadcore na, mblis tlga. .nver nag hang and nahulog na dn at bmagsak n pagkalakas lakas.. still working^^ 12mp ang back cam and sobrang linaw talo pa ang grand duos. . .
    So dn’t hesitate to buy. .

  28. Last march 9 bumili ko ng x1,nitong aug 15,2014 bigla nlang nagblack out ang fon ko,dnla ko sa service service aug 17,till now aug 30 wla pa response ang starmobile,im very disappointed sa service nila,grabe ang tagal,nag sisisi ako kung bkit starmobile binili ko dapat Oplus nlang
