Globe vs Smart Postpaid Offering For The Samsung Galaxy Note 3: Which Is Better?

Price war is on with Smart and Globe! If Smart is offering the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 for P1,999 a month (All-in Plan 1800 plus P200 cash out for 24 months), Globe will be offering it for P1,799 a month (Plan 999 plus P800 cash out via credit card for 24 months). Globe will be offering the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 with “unlimited LTE”. The main disadvantage though is that if you also want unlimited calls and texts, that would be additional P600 on your bill and that will total of P2,399 a month. Moreover, Globe is offering the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 + Samsung Galaxy Gear bundle free at Globe Platinum Plan 5000 with a 24 month contract period.

Smart, on the other hand, may be offering the Note 3 at Plan 1800 but the difference is everything is all in. If you want unlimited LTE calls and texts, just register the service for P995 for 30 days and P600 for 30 days. That would be included on your Plan 1800 and not on top of it.

Which has the better deal? That depends on your needs. But let me help you with that.

  • Smart has more LTE sites and has faster LTE than Globe.
  • Globe has faster LTE on Ayala territories (Ayala Malls, Ayala Land housing and condo projects)
  • Globe is offering the Note 3 on a cheaper plan.
  • Smart has an All-in Plan which includes unlimited LTE and unlimited calls and texts within your plan
  • Globe has true unlimited LTE. Smart, according to some reports, has a bandwidth cap.

Whatever you decide, I’m pretty sure you will never go wrong on choosing a Galaxy Note 3, its undeniably the best and most powerful device to date. Check the specs here:

  1. The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is really a efficient device than the predecessor Samsung Galaxy Note 2. The Galaxy Gear works fine; i love this device with both Galaxy Gear and S Pen. Both of them are really useful if you know how to work on them. The Galaxy Gear is an great device with the Smartphone.

For me the Smart seems to be a better one with good speeds in LTE.

  2. Hi, I am going to Smart Office tomorrow at Rockwell Makati to get Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Can someone tell me the documents I need to prepare so that I can purchase the phone smoothly and fast. Can I get it the same day? Thanks.

    • You need three:
      – Proof of Identification – company ID, passport, driver’s license, etc.
      – Proof of Billing – credit card statement, Meralco/PLDT bill, or any billing statement under your name.
      – Proof of Financial Capability – payslip, credit card billing statement, etc.

I suggest that you get Smart’s All in Plan 1800 then register to Unli LTE 995. People from Smart can help you with that.

  3. Got my note 3 from smart, anu sir code ng lte para sa all in plan?

  4. This may sound dumb, but do I need to pay right away when I’m applying for the plan? or when my application has been approved?

  5. Follow up ko lang dun sa question above by Christian. Sa Smart since it is stated na 1800/mo.+200 monthly cash out so meaning when i go there(Smart) ang paunang bayad ko is 2K right? no need for credit card like Globe. Tama po ba pagkakaintindi ko? TIA!

    • P2,000 per month ang monthly bill mo for 24 months.

      • OK thanks for the reply. Gets ko na. Ang Globe kasi yung offer nila na 999+800 yung 800 hindi pwede sa monthly bill according sa isang forums na nabasa ko na nagavail nun so mandatory na CC talaga pagkukuha, kaya natanong ko if same sila ng Smart. So mas flexible pala Smart if hindi sila mandatory CC sa 1800+200. I can already make an advance payment. Thanks again!

They offer plan 1800 plus 200 a month din tulad ng smart.

May mga freebies din sila like calls and texts. Sa globe kasi on top of the bill na ang additional services.

Would probably go for Smart since malakas signal dito and OK for me yung offer. Thanks sa review about the 2 plans ng GN3 very helpful and also your replies to my queries. Laking tulong for a lot of people.

  6. Sir. Thanks.

    • Meron cash out option. yung 1800 a month yun yung plan mo na kinuha along with the phone. pwede naman lower than plan 1800 yun nga lang mas malaki ang cash out for the phone.pero one time pay lang yung cash out sa phone.

, e.g *6406 or *2477 etc….. planning to apply for smart plan..

  8. Great info. sounds totally straight forward on what someone’s preference would be as mentioned by Mark at the latter…
But i have a question of safety, one that still lingers?. That is –at a personal financial point of view

If you are to trim down all the benefits and get to scale down on one
    provider either Globe or Smart.
Who would you go for in terms of expenditure for a 24 months deal taking note of either services each provider gives to its customers.

Hope am clear with what i want to question.

    • It all depends on the user’s preference. In my case, I prefer Globe. I don’t call and text that much anymore but most of my friends and family (except for my co-workers which are mostly Smart users) are on Globe. Internet is generally fast in Metro Manila area whether on LTE or HSPA+.

Ironically, I recommend Smart instead of Globe because of its value for money factor it brings. Smart offers All-In Plans with flexibundles in it. You can subscribe on unli internet and unli calls and texts for a month but will be charged within your plan. Globe, on the other hand, will charge you on top of the plan when you register to unli services.

  9. You sure do your homework…

you really cut off some weight of the dilemma that was on me.
    Thanks man.

I got another question though, concerning Prices of units with a relationship w to depreciation…

Well, say the Note 3 is at 35k (take a forecast) in 2 to 3 months from now the price will go down…
Does the PLAN costs change as the depreciation changes(for unit) or its really a plugged in “contract” as the PROVIDER says it is though when 24months to come the NOTE 3 might be at (10k lets say) ill still have to pay whats i did 20months ago?

  10. Share ko lng ung experience ko sa smart moa. the agent there is not accommodating. I asked her about the all in plan 1800 and she told me that the total initial payment is 1800+4776. Then I asked kng pano ung 199 na cashout per month, she told me that’s for credit card only. Hindi maganda makipag usap ung agent na un and she didnt even offer me any good suggestion regarding sa plan.

I got complete requirements. Sabi niya may credit limit sa credit card is not enough for this plan. I got confused tuloy. Got disappointed. So I went out from that store, pumunta ako sa kabilang store and out of frustration, I bought that Note 3 using my credit and debit card; 12mos installment sa CC. Gusto ko sanang ipamuka sa agent na yun na kaya kong bumili ng fone. and for the postpaid plan, siguro ipapa-increase ko na lang yung credit limit ng freedom plan ko. Tsk.

  11. sir halimbawa po wala akon proof of billing na naka-pangalan sa akin ano po bah ang ibang option nito??mag-aaply sana aku sa smart all in plan ng note 3..

  12. Sir is it possible na, tanggalin ko yung unli lte sa plan ko 1799?globe plan.
Para ma-maximize ko yung consumble for calls and text since hindi naman maganda 4g site dito samin.

  13. About Globe Plan 1799: does it really have to be a credit card when paying for the P800 monthly cash out?

Also, since it’s my first time applying for a postpaid plan, if you don’t mind estimating it, how long is the processing time (that includes the day of approval and release of the gadget)?

    • No. You can charge it on your monthly bill. That means it will be additional 800 a month. You can double check it sa globe.

Approval of your application depends on the requirements you submitted. It also depends on how did u apply for your plan if its via email, phone call, or personal appearance at the Globe store. Personally going to Globe store is the fastest. You enter with your requirements then you leave with your new phone already.

  14. hi. this is a very helpful post. i’d also like to know if anyone knows the bandwidth cap for smart lte?

  15. hi there…. uhmmm ive gone to globe center and they say i can only avail the plan 999 for the note 3 postpaid plan so there is a cash out of 19,200… Ask ko lang kung yung payment for the cash-out is via CC, is it 800 monthly ang ibabawas sa CC ko or the whole amount of 19,200 tapos ang irereflect lang nila sa SOA ko eh 800 monthly? Thanks po sa sasagot.

  16. hi sir.. ask ko lang.. may smart account na ako for availing their pocket wifi and i’m paying them na for more than a year.. ok na ba ko mag avail ng s3 using my existing account without bringing any requirements? and ask ko lang how much ang total cash out na ibbgay ko sknila for 1800 plan? thanks in advance!

  17. hi sir pwedi mag tanung about smart unlisurfplan 999 kung babayaran kuba ang ang 19,200 ,,,mag monthly nalng b ako ng 999 for 24months ba or 30months????

      • was wondering if the plan for both globe and smart for their samsung galaxy note 3 means unlimited calls and texts for all networks? i am currently subscribed to suncellular (mostly for calls and texts) and have globe broadband (for desktop internet purposes). what i need from my new gadget will be unlimited calls and texts and the occasional use of the internet like when i need to look something up. i dont want to lose my broadband with globe and since i am consuming roughly 2,500 for telecomm services, i have been planning to ditch my postpaid plan with suncellular (but am having a hard time to do so because most of the people i work with are either suncellor globe, and its been my network for the past 3 years). in any case, the only reason i would probably choose smart would be if it doesnt require the use of credit cards. so again, by the all in plan of smart, it means unlimited calls and texts sans credit card? thanks

  18. Hi po, ask ko lng kng meron bng ibang fee na babayaran kpag nagapply ka ng all in plan 1800 sa smart bukod sa 1800 and 199 for the note 3? Thanks
