CloudFone Thrill 550Q: 5.5-inch HD Screen, Quad Core, Android 4.2 Jellybean for P8,990

We have been probably spending so much time monitoring the events at CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas that we overlooked what’s happening to the local gadget scene.

Cloudfone has been quiet for quite sometime now after the release of the Cloudfone Thrill 530qx (the one with a large 4,500 mAh battery) and Cloudfone Thrill 400qx (the smartphone with two batteries). They were so quiet, we were clueless that they are already selling a new phone. We spotted the Cloudfone Thrill 550q in Cloudfone’s newly opened store at SM Mall of Asia. Let’s check out the specs.

Cloudfone Thrill 550q partial specs:

Obviously there are missing specs like the battery and the type of chipset. The kind saleslady at the store said it has a 2,500 mAh battery but that is yet to be confirmed. Anyway, first impressions with the phone – it is a bigger version of the Cloudfone Thrill 530qx but it is surprisingly thinner and lighter than the 530qx. Another noticeable thing here is the price – P8,999. We wonder why it is 1k cheaper than the 530qx despite the 550q’s better specs. We think a smartphone with a 5.5-inch HD display for P8,999 is absolutely a great value!
